Sandra “Sandy” Gay Gorcoff, 62, of Dublin, Ohio passed away on May 24, 2023. She was born on June 22, 1960 in Warren, Ohio to Wallace and Belva Baker. She attended Labrae High School and after graduating from high school attended Kent State University and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in psychology. After completing her Bachelor of Arts Degree she graduated with her master’s degree also from Kent State University. For over 20 years she worked as a Mental Health Counselor at North Community Counseling Center.
Sandy was an incredible wife, mother and friend to many. She was the epitome of a great mom. Nothing mattered more to her than her family. She has an infectious smile and was quick to laugh at the silliest things. She found pure joy and laughter with her Grandma Baker, Aunt Sally and cousin Kelly where she would laugh most at the silliest of things. Sandy was the best listener and always made you feel important and cared for. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone and when complimented on an article of clothing she always would say “Do you want it?” Sandy loved to collect rocks, being at the beach watching the sunsets, and taking weekend road trips with her husband Gary to Granville. Sandy loved spending time with her children and fur babies. Some of her children’s favorite memories are when she taught them to drive, going to the dog park with her babies, making her baked ziti which her family insists is the best, and going on many Kroger trips. They had taken so many Kroger trips that the self checkout attendant knew them all by first name. Throughout her life she was a beautiful piano player and played beautifully even into her later stages of dementia.
Sandy is survived by the love of her life Gary; children, Bryan and Katrina; father, Wallace Baker. She is survived by her siblings, Donna and Ken; cousins, Kelly and Deborah; and her dogs Sammy, Wizard and previously Gardy, and her granddog, Kitori.
The family would like to give thanks to the following individuals who cared so much for Sandy. Gary, Bryan and Katrina appreciate all you have done for Sandy. Kelly Looker- cousin, friend who gave a life full of smiles and laughs. Judy Parnes- best friend who was supportive to the end. Lisa Mend- Companion over the last year. Whenever you arrived at the house Sandy’s face lit up with the biggest smile. And last but certainly not least a special shout out to Nary and Troy for all your love and support, thank you bonus kids.
She will be deeply missed by her family but they take comfort in knowing she is in a better place dementia free taking walks with her first dog Gardy.
A Celebration of Life will take place at SCHOEDINGER DUBLIN, 5980 Perimeter Drive Dublin, Ohio 43017 on Sunday May 28, 2023 from 1:30-3pm.
