Tessa Esi Eduafoa Haizel-Cobbina (née Beecham) was born on 21 May 1967 to Dr Horatio Atom Beecham and Mrs Theresa Comfort Beecham at Korle-Bu Teaching hospital, Accra. She was the third child of four daughters born to the couple.
EDUCATION
Tessa started her primary school education at Ridge Church School, Accra, then moved to University Primary, Legon, then Achimota Primary School, Ghana. In 1979, she gained admission to Mfantsiman Girls’ Secondary School. On completion of her General Certificate of Education (GCSE) Ordinary Level of Education in 1984, Tessa left for the USA on American Field Service (AFS) exchange programme for a year. It was on this programme that she developed a love for computing. On her return to Ghana, Tessa attended WANG Computer Training Institute, successfully graduated with an Information Technology diploma and joined the world of work.
WORK
She was very hard working and diligent with her work. Notably she worked for Kuottam Ltd, Swiss Air for a contracted period and latterly at Air Ghana Cargo company. At each of the companies she worked, she was a hardworking, trusted and valued member of the team.
Always looking to improve herself and build a better life for her family, Tessa relocated to the USA with her family to further her studies in computing. She successfully completed both a first degree and masters in Computer Information Systems and Information Systems Management respectively at DeVry University. She was also an accredited SCRUM master and worked in a variety of organizations and roles but most recently as a Project/Location Database Analyst at Digital Data Technologies, Inc, USA.
FAMILY
Tessa met her husband, Francis “Kobby”’ Haizel-Cobbina in 1989. They were married in July 1991 and were blessed with two daughters, Tracy and Channiel. She also has a granddaughter, Teagan, and grandson, Darren, who brought joy and big smiles to her face.
FAITH
Throughout her life from early years in Sunday School to being an active member of church as an adult, Tessa had a relationship with God. This helped her during her illness. She would always say “Nyame Adom” translated to “by God’s grace” when she was asked how she was. Tessa fought a good fight to get better. Unfortunately she was called away too soon into the arms of the Lord.
Tessa, rest in perfect peace. Damirifa due!
