Dr. Yongxia Peng was born on November 1, 1941, in Nanjing China. She obtained her education from the Jingling #5 Women’s High School and later proudly graduated from the Nanjing Medical school in 1965. Shortly after graduation, she became the attending gynecologist at the People’s Hospital of Jiangsu Province. In 1992, she was recruited to the Red Cross Hospital of Shenzhen as the director of the department. She devoted her career to helping others.
Dr. Peng is known for her caring nature for others. As a doctor, she tirelessly helped countless patients throughout her career. Because of her efforts, hundreds, if not thousands, of new lives were brought into this world. As a colleague, Dr. Peng was highly appreciated for her kindness and professional excellence by all with whom she worked. As a director, Dr. Peng will always be remembered as a fair chief and an approachable mentor.
The caring nature of Dr. Peng extends beyond her career. She is a mother of two sons, Zhengrong Wu and Xiaoyu Wu, and a grandmother of two granddaughters, Katherine Wu and Alexandra Wu. In 2003, she decided to retire from her glorious career and take care of her husband, Yeliang Wu, who was a victim of liver cancer. During the last 10 years of her journey, she spent her time with her sons and grandchildren while battling dementia. Her kindness, braveness, and positive attitude have surely inspired both of her granddaughters.
Dr. Peng left an unforgettable impression on everyone who met her. Despite her own memory being taken away, her legacy and the memory of her warmth and wisdom will continue living on in all those who have had the privilege of interacting with and loving her. She will be immensely and deeply missed by all of us!
Yongxia is survived by her beloved sons and their wives; her grandchildren, Katherine and Alexandra; her brothers and sisters, Yongshen, Yongyuan, Yongyu, Yongmei, Yongqing, Shuliang, Minying, Minliang, and Minjuan.
