

Adeline Marie (Carlson) Stanius, 90, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday November 25, 2010 at Solvay Hospice House. She was born January 19, 1920 to Alex and Esther Carlson in Duluth.
Adeline graduated from Central High School and Duluth Business University. She worked as a bookkeeper for S & S Auto Parts, and Big Duluth. Ad married the love of her life, Donald Stanius, on October 19, 1945, three weeks after he returned from the US Navy in the Pacific. She raised their four sons, and later returned to bookkeeping for D.E. Stanius & Associates architectural firm. Don and Ad wintered in Sarasota, Florida for the last 35 years, but Duluth was always home.
Adeline loved life and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed golf, flying with Don, boating, fishing on the big lake, and snowmobiling. She was a dedicated member of Concordia Lutheran Church where she served as Financial Secretary for fourteen years, Ridgeview Country Club, and Rolling Green Country Club in Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son Daniel; two sisters, Carol and Mardell.
Adeline will be remembered by her loving husband of 65 years, Donald; four sons, Ron (Nancy), Rick (Linda), Larry (LuAnn), Randy (Debbie); nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Funeral on Monday November 29, 2010 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 2501 Woodland Ave, Duluth MN. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery, Rev. Dave Trygestaad officiating. Memorials to Concordia Lutheran Church, a special “Thank You” to the nurses at Nurses That Care, St. Mary’s Hospice and Solvay Hospice House for the excellent care of our mother.
