

She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on April 24, 1918 to Carl and Clara (Hagglund) Johnson.
Bernice married Nelson LaTour on November 27, 1937. She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church; the Rosary Society; St. Margaret’s Guild and the Duluth Deanery of Catholic Women.
Bernice loved animals, especially dogs, and she loved flowers and gardening. She collected postcards from all over the country and loved to look at them to live vicariously through her family’s travel. She was a voracious reader and belonged to the book club at St. Ann’s. Bernice had a wonderful sense of humor even as she struggled in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Clara Johnson; sister, Mabel Johnson; and her husband, Nelson LaTour.
Bernice is survived by her children, Barbara (Howard) Larson, Richard LaTour, John (Kathy) LaTour, Caroline (Steve) Pauley, and Julie (John) Esson; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
