
Carolee was born March 21, 1932 to William and Thelma (Wright) Hoover in Rhinelander, WI. She moved to Duluth as a child and lived in West Duluth most of her life. She married Raymond Howard Johnsen July 12, 1950, and celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in February 2000.
Carolee enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. Carolee loved spending time making crafts. She could make something out of anything. She and her family enjoyed spending time at the cabin fishing and agate hunting. She loved gardening, playing cards (especially cribbage), and playing bingo. Carolee will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Carolee was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator early in her marriage and as an Avon lady for many years. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; and two sisters, Kathleen and Lorraine.
Carolee will be greatly missed by her two daughters, Jill (Brian) Duncan of Lester Prairie, MN, and Julie (Jeff) Waters of Cloverland, WI; grandchildren, Kate(Tyler) Kienow, Emily(Samuel) Espey, and Cody, Kira, and Kyler Waters; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Aydan Kienow, and Jonah and Micah Espey; sisters, Marguerite and Janice; other extended family; and friends and staff at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living.
Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 North 56th Ave. West, Duluth. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
