

Durell Fay Hoffman, 93, of Morgan Park died Saturday November 23, 2013 . Today our family lost a great man. Words cannot quite express our sadness, but we take comfort in knowing he died peacefully after an incredibly long and amazing life. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle, veteran, and friend. We learned a lot from him, and his legacy lives on in his family.
He was born in April of 1920 in Duluth to Fay and Edna (McIntyre) Hoffman.
Durell graduated from Morgan Park High School and was a World War II Army Veteran. Durell worked for US Steel until 1975 and Jeno’s until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Jane and his brother Donald.
He is survived by his sons, Don, John (Christine Schenone) and Jim (Mary Rydberg); sister-in-law, Irene Larson; and grand-children, Melissa Hoffman, Michelle Hoffman, Jonathan Hoffman, and Stephanie Hoffman.
Visitation: 11 AM until a Noon service on Saturday, November 30th, all taking place at Bell Brothers Funeral Home, 601 N. 56th. Ave W Duluth, MN. Military Honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Private burial on Monday December 2nd. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Legion Post 71, 5814 Grand Ave. Duluth MN 55807.
