

She grew up in Duluth and graduated from Stanbrook Hall. After high school she attended business college in Duluth. Immediately following, she started her career at the U.S. Steel cement plant as a bookkeeper, where she met the love of her life, John Forneris. They were married on November 29, 1952. Elva was a hard worker and continued working various jobs while raising a family. She was currently employed by St. Mary’s Essentia where she managed the gift shop.
Elva loved reading, spending time with her grandchildren, and her true passion was dogs and horses.
She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Auxillary, and active in St. Mary’s volunteer services, a member of St. James Catholic Church, and was very active in the Duluth Women’s Club.
Elva was preceded in death by her husband, John; and son, Nathan.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Jeanne Forneris of Cary, NC, Craig (Debbie) Forneris of Chanhassen, Mark (Susan Haugen) Forneris of Oakdale, and Paul Forneris of Duluth; and grandchildren, Eleanor Margulies, Gina Forneris, and John Forneris.

Visitation: 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at St. James Catholic Church, Duluth. Inurnment will be at Sunrise Memorial Park, Hermantown at a later date.
