Ethel was born November 21, 1924 to Ernest Myers Sr. and Elizabeth (Lizzie Belle) Mitchell Myers of Tomahawk, WI. She attended school in Tomahawk until her 16th birthday. Ethel worked in a factory in Merrill, WI. where she met her husband, Lawrence Charles Frederick Heise. They were married November 22, 1944. The happy couple lived on a dairy farm in Pine River, then moved to the Chub Lake, MN. area with the railroad. They moved to Ely, MN. where Lawrence logged and Ethel was a logging camp cook. Then they moved to Gnesen Township, MN. and in 1953 they moved to Two Harbors, MN. so Lawrence could work on the ore docks.
Ethel loved her children and tried very hard to be a good mother. She enjoyed taking them berry picking, camping, swimming and fishing. They would go camping all summer sometimes and Ethel would cook and bake bread and even can wild berries over an open campfire. She loved to garden, read from the bible, farm and quilt. Ethel liked keeping track of the family tree. She got interested in the family tree from her aunt Emily Sarah Myers Mitchell. Ethel especially liked to be outside in the sunshine. When most of her children married and had homes of their own, Ethel started working at Surf and Sands Nursing Home doing laundry. She got a job at Jenos until she retired in 1982. She and her husband then went traveling throughout the U.S.
Ethel lived in Two Harbors until 2001 when she went to live at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. She liked to sit by the window in the sunshine and watch her tomatoes and flowers.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest Sr. and Elizabeth Myers; a day old son; step-son, Roger Heise; brother, Ernest Myers Jr.; cousins; nieces; and nephews.
