

Gilbert Gervase “Gil” O’Leary, 82, of Duluth passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center from a complication of Parkinson’s, surrounded by his family. He was born June 8, 1933 to John and Agnes (Ruff) O’Leary in Kenosha, WI.
Gil was raised in Minneapolis, and after high school he moved to Duluth to work as a barber where he met the love of his life, Ethel Glibbery. They were married on October 14, 1967.
He was a barber at the Woodland Barber Shop and Mount Royal Barber Shop as an owner for over 30 years. He also worked at Central Entrance barber shop for a few years until retiring in 1998. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and a former member of the Sno Saints Snowmobile Club.
Gil enjoyed snowmobiling (his other Love), golfing, traveling, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and family get togethers. Gil was a great joke teller and had a contagious laugh. He also enjoyed the great food at all the family functions.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas; sisters, Joan, Muriel, Mary, Virginia, and Jackie; and nephews, Dennis Graves and Daniel Glibbery.
Gil will be greatly missed by his wife, Ethel; sister, Eileen of California; and many lovely and special nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and great-great nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center for their special care of Gil during his 5 ½ year stay, also St. Luke’s Hospice for their compassion and Care.
