

Henry “Hank” M. Kauffman, 72, of Duluth, went on to be with our Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2011, while having family at his side. He was the tenth of eleven children born on July 10, 1938 to Russell L. and Emma G. (Meyer) Kauffman in Wooster, Ohio.
Hank graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in 1952 and graduated from Wooster High School in 1956. He joined the Army reserves on February 21, 1956, was honorably discharged on Dec. 17, 1956 and then enlisted in the US Air Force on December 18, 1956. Hank was a Jet Engine Technician Master Instructor for the Air Force and taught basic jet engine mechanics at Rantoul AFB, Illinois and spent many years as a field training instructor. His service time was spent in the Philippines, Vietnam, Spain and many other countries. He helped train the 148th Guard at the Duluth Air National Guard Base on converting from the F101 to the F4 aircraft. He retired from the USAF at Shaw AFB in South Carolina in July 1976, returned to Duluth and married Ramona (Kent) Nesgoda. He was a member of the Proctor Moose, American Legion Post 71 and a life member of the VFW.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mae Kauffman; parents , Russell and Emma Kauffman; siblings, George, Walter, John, Helen, Leona Short, Mary Neufer and Cecilia Boldman; and stepson, Neil Nesgoda.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ramona; sons, Frank (Monique) Kauffman of Modesto, CA, and Anthony (Connie) Kauffman of Turlock, CA; stepchildren, Mary Kramer of St. Paul Park, Joseph, Bruce and Blane Nesgoda all of Duluth, Brenda (Gordy) Jurek of Proctor, Renee Grover of Chisago City; brother, Paul (Janet) Kauffman of Creston, OH; sisters, Victoria Kelley and Christine Plant all of Wooster, OH and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from Noon until the 1:00 pm Funeral Service Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Bell Brothers Chapel. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
