

Howard was raised in Duluth and served in the United States Air Force from 1942 to 1946 as a B-17 mechanic. On January 8, 1949 Howard married the love of his life, Gladyce Lorraine Salmela in Duluth. Howard and Gladyce were married 64 years, until Gladyce’s passing in 2013. After his honorable discharge from the military, he worked at Neal Bort Pie Co. Howard also worked for the State of Minnesota Grain Department for seven years. In August 1968, he began working at Jeno’s Inc. In 1982, Howard was transferred to Wellston, Ohio to become plant manager. In 1988, he retired from his positon as Assistant Director of Manufactuaring.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladyce and parents, Edward and Mathilda.
Howard will be greatly missed by his children, Brad (Annette Jubie) Krause, Donna (Bob) Hanson, and Joanne (Steve) Carland, all of Duluth; grandchildren, Kayla and Stacey Hanson, Allison (Greg) Spoelhof, Daniel and Paul Carland; great-grandchildren, Marin and Max Spoelhof; brothers, Willis (Virginia) Krause, Dale (Lisa) Krause and sister, Marilyn (Bob) Pringle. Howard is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Duluth, MN.
