Best known as “Jimmy” he graduated from Denfeld High School in 1975. At Denfeld he was the Hunter’s baseball manager and worked at Hardee’s. Jimmy lived at Pike Lake where he helped at the Canosia Fire Hall, and was a greens keeper at AAA Pike Lake Golf Course where he had a hole in one! His favorite pastime was hockey. He was a Bulldog Hockey fan for over half a century, and has had a close relationship with Denver University Hockey team since their 1968 championship in Duluth.
For the past 15 years Jimmy was devoted to the Duluth Marshall Hockey team. Jimmy kept the water bottles full, the sticks and pucks organized, and the sharpening stone was close at hand. Jimmy had many friends from hockey and they enjoyed his quick wit. He can be found on team photos over the past 50 years! Not only will he be missed by the Pike Lake Community but also by his hockey aficionados from Des Moines to Roseau.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
James is survived by his brother, Greg (Kristine) Kaake; niece, Alissa; nephews, Loren and Stephen; and his girl buddies.
Celebration of Life: 5:00 pm Friday, June 17, 2016 at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth.
