She was born in Duluth on October 16, 1939 to Margaret and Wallace Carlson. She grew up in both Duluth and Superior and graduated from Superior Central High School in 1957.
Judy was a strong woman who persevered through difficult times. After raising four children on her own, she went back to school and got her Master’s Degree in Social Work. She went on to work at Arrowhead House in Duluth and then to Tradewinds in Superior as their Program Director.
Judy always looked for the positive before the negative. She was unselfish, always wanting to know how others were doing and not wanting to talk about her own problems. No matter how difficult a day she might be having, she was always up for a coffee, a Coney dog or a game of cribbage. She was still traveling at age 75, met movie stars, baseball players, and got to know the rock band the Violent Femmes. She loved a good book, fine cuisine, seeing the latest movies, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Dana Rossing; son, Patrick (Eliani) Johnson; daughter, Lisa Johnson; grandchildren: Jeremy, Justin, Amanda, and Kristy, 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, JoAnn (Gordon) Cronstrom.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Beth.
