Julia attended the Duluth Public Schools of Merritt Elementary, West Junior, and graduated from Denfeld High School in 1935. She was a lifelong resident of West Duluth and was an active member of Elim Lutheran Church being confirmed in 1932. She served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the church choir, and the director of the church Junior Choir. Julia had a beautiful voice and was a soloist in the church for many years. After graduation, Julia worked for the U.S. Forrest Service and Thomas P. Bradley Timber Products. During the Second World War, she worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers in their office adjacent to the Aerial Lift Bridge. She married Lieutenant Carl A. Lund on July 13, 1943. They shared 44 years together until Carl's death in July of 1987.
Julia enjoyed playing the piano, singing, family gatherings and golfing in the Pike Lake Women’s Golf League in her younger years; however, she was mainly devoted to raising her family.
Julia is preceded in death by her husband Carl; four siblings, Carl, John, Dr. Paul Berglund, Elizabeth Innes Taylor; and one sister-in-law, Martha Lund Johnson.
She is survived by her children John, Thomas, Sandra, Paul (Judy), Steven (Julie); six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 17 in Bell Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18 in Elim Lutheran Church, with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment will be in Oneota Cemetery.
