

Louraine M. Duncan, 96, of Duluth passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017. She was born on April 24, 1921 to Adolph E and Esther S (Granholm) Johnson in Duluth and was a lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church. She attended the Duluth School of Beauty Culture and worked as a hair stylist until her retirement in 1983.
She married Clyde B. Duncan in October 1948 and together they owned and operated several beauty salons and schools in Duluth, Superior, Hibbing, and Virginia. They were both active members of the MN Hair Fashion Association and attended workshops and conventions in various cities in the United States, Hawaii, and Hong Kong. After her husband retired in 1986, they divided their time between Duluth and Sun City West AZ, moving back to Duluth in 2002.
Louraine enjoyed reading, golfing, cooking, baking, and all forms of needlework.
She is survived by her brother, Dick Johnson of Superior WI; nieces, Claudia, Lynn, Dorie, and Jill; and nephews, Rick and Jack.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be sent to Elim Lutheran Church.
