Patty McDonald Swanstrom

Patty grew up in Duluth, moved to Lake Forest, IL and remained close because of their family cabin in the area. She met her beloved husband Jack Swanstrom across the lake at age 11. Following college, they settled back in Duluth to raise their family.

With beauty, class and grace, she was the ultimate “TOP MOM”, always caring for others with an open heart and home. She was passionate about her family, friends, grandchildren, lake life and the dogs and animals in her life.

Patty was preceded in death by her dear husband, Jack Swanstrom; sister, Sally Fetzer; and brother-in-law, Peter Fetzer.

She will be greatly missed by her children, John O. (Erin) Swanstrom of Duluth, Jennie Swanstrom of Eagan; and Sally (Peter) Raih of Minneapolis; and two grandchildren, Jack and Ellie Raih. She is also survived by her loving family, brother,Tom (Sharon) McDonald and family of Chicago, brother, Owen (Amy) McDonald and family of Chicago; family of her sister, Sally (Peter) Fetzer; sister-in-law Julie (Gale) Mellum and family of Minneapolis.

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 East 4th Street, Duluth, followed by Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 26, 2017.
