Roy Theodore Swanson

Roy was born on Sept. 23, 1911 in Duluth to John and Christina Swanson. He was united in marriage to Doris Paulson on Nov. 2nd, 1940. Together they raised two daughters, Barbara and Mary Ann.

Roy worked for the DM&IR and retired in 1974. He built his retirement home on Lake Dodo and resided there with his wife until her passing in 2002. Roy remained there until he was 100 years old.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; daughter, Barbara; and his two brothers and two sisters.

Roy is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Ron) Holte; grandchildren: Keri (Glen) Erickson, Beth (Kevin) Kucza, and Chris (Ashley) Holte; and his two great granddaughters, Kayla and Alexis Kucza.

The family would like to thank Cheryl and Larry Stauty for the wonderful care given at Cotton Country Manor.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Service on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7260 Highway 53, in Canyon. Pastor, Larry Anderson will officiate.

Interment will take place at Bethany Cemetery in Hermantown in the spring.
