Shirley D. Hodgson

Shirley was born June 8, 1928. In her long and happy life, she was a daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She was devoted to God and family. To her, living meant reaching out to people, forming lifelong friendships and touching countless lives in her homes in Chicago, Minocqua, Duluth and elsewhere. She also enjoyed an active career as a dental hygienist and served and led both church choirs and school boards. If anything, her retirement years were even more active. Shirley died of pancreatic cancer August 16, 2014, after several months suffering in the company of her close family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Richard; son, David (Janeice DeLisle) Hodgson; daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Carey; grandchildren, Honoré and Prosper Hodgson, Adrienne, Steven, Emily, and Michael Carey; sister, Nancy (Charles) Scheer; and sister-in-law, Margaret Schultz.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Service, Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at the Elsing Chapel at Lakeshore, 4004 London Rd. in Duluth.
