

Thomas graduated from Proctor High School in 1970, soon marrying his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Olson, the love of his life. Shortly after marriage, he enlisted in the United States Army. Thomas spent many years working for the railroad. While working and raising a family of 3 children, he graduated from UMD with his Bachelor’s in business. After working for the railroad, he worked as an independent contractor and a musician.
Thomas had a love for golfing, sports, music, and nature. He was a multi-talented man who loved to create. He was a true craftsman.Thomas, also referred to as “Timbo” by many, had a heart of gold. He loved spending time with his friends and family. His reverence for life and his kind and gentle soul were felt by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Betty; brothers, Paul and Roger; and brother-in-law, Douglas.
Thomas will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Marilyn; son, William (Heidi) Slattengren of Esko; daughters, Tiffany Slattengren of Duluth, and Sarah (Nathan) Martineau of Eagan; grandchildren, Aleesha, Jayden, Tyler, Avah, and Jake “Bubba”. Thomas is also survived by brothers Dave(Sonya), John (Joan); sister, Karen Vandenberg; mother-in-law, Donabel Olson; many other relatives and friends; and his special companion, Itty Bit.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Bell Brothers Funeral Home. The visitation will continue from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in Canosia Cemetery.
