

Wallace was born in Brainerd, MN on February 11, 1925 to Clifford and Esther (Wilkes) Halverson. He moved to Duluth in 1943 and enlisted in the US Army soon after. Wallace served his country honorably during WWII and after the war ended he returned to Duluth. On May 24, 1947 he was united in marriage at the family homestead to Margret Hultman. Wallace went on to work as a plumber for many years and was a member of the Local 11. He retired in 1979. Wallace enjoyed traveling and “tinkering” in his garage. He was a member of American Legion Post 71 and donated many hours as a volunteer at the Railroad Museum. He will be remembered for his incredible creativity and ingenuity as well as his honesty and sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Richard.
Wallace is survived by his loving wife, Margret of 64 years; children Steve (Linda) Halverson of St. Paul, MN, Phillip (Rita) Halverson of Gilbert, AZ, Debra (Thomas) Miller of Duluth, Peggy (Randy) Lundgren of Duluth; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Lois Nettleton as well as many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 1 P.M. until the 2 P.M. memorial service on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Bell Brothers Jarvi Dowd Funeral Home 925 East Fourth St. Duluth. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum 506 West Michigan Street Duluth, Minnesota 55802.
