She is survived by daughters Cheryl (Dennis) Lake of Calgary, AB, Lynda (Tim) Cox of Duncan, BC, son Ray (Jan) Wotton of Alberta Beach, AB, 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and sister Irene (Ben of Winnipeg, MB. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorne, 2 brothers and one sister.
Mom was born and raised in Birtle, Manitoba and when she left school, she went to work at the local post office for her father. She loved her sports and met the love of her life, Lorne Wotton, on the ice during a hockey game. They were soon married and moved from Manitoba to Alberta and finally BC while raising their family. The two of them shared the love of music, travel and the outdoors throughout their 73 years of marriage. There was always music and laughter in our home.
Mom was a warm and loving presence to her growing family with a great sense of humor, a wonderful smile and a personality that drew people to her. Many long lasting friendships were the result. She lived the last 30 years of her life in Victoria and loved the ocean and walking the beaches with our father. Willows Beach was a favorite, and if you knew our father, you would know they would have to stop for a hot dog or fries at the local restaurant.
We are so grateful to have had her in our lives for almost 96 years and she will be in our hearts forever. We are also very grateful to her many caregivers at Broadmead Lodge which has been her home for the past 7 years and to Dr. Kelly. A special thanks also to Johanna and Betty who enriched Mom’s life in so many ways.
Honoring her wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Broadmead Care Society at 4579 Chatterton Way, Victoria, BC V8X 4Y7.
