Georgine Marie Newton

With great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, great grandma. Jeanie was the third child born to George Clifford Nickerson and Florence Ivy Foster. Jeanie was born on Pender Island BC and was one of many siblings now scattered throughout the province. Jeanie was predeceased by her parents, her sister Charlene and her brother Roy.

Mom is survived by her two sisters Patsy and Shirley and her brother George Jr, also her three children Barb (John), Rob (Anita), Eric (Tanya) and many nieces and nephews, and grandchildren Michelle, Scott (Katie), Kevin, Colin, Breanna (Rhys), Austin and great grandchildren Jared and Zoe.

Mom had the opportunity to call many places in Canada home as we followed our dad throughout his career in the Canadian Air Force before settling on Vancouver Island.

Mom had a calling to help everyone who came to her in need. Many times, she opened her home to those who needed a hand up or help with groceries or a trip to appointments.

Mom loved her career as a health care provider before retiring in Crofton where she happily enjoyed caring for Betty (her dog she named after a very close friend) and spending time in her gardens and making time for family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held November 10th in Crofton, BC (for more information please send an email to [email protected]). As mom was an avid animal rescuer in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Duncan BC SPCA in mom’s memory.
