Quincy Durrant (nee Adams), on June 22, 2016. Predeceased by her
husband, Wilfred, and her beloved sisters, Marilyn and Edith, Jackie is
survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Michael), by her son David (Jennifer),
by her adored grandchildren Hannah and Kate, by her sister Dauna and by
her beloved pal Hazel.
Jackie was born on July 7, 1926 in Vancouver where she attended Lord
Bing High School. She was among the first female graduates of the
Physical Education Program in 1950 at UBC. She moved to Victoria to
begin her teaching career at S.J. Willis where she was delighted to meet
many life-long friends and her future husband whom she married in 1960.
She retired from teaching in the early seventies but maintained close
contact with the many friends she made along the way. About that time,
she and Wilfred bought property at Shawinigan Lake where they spent
many happy days. They would move to that residence permanently in
1984 after Wilfred’s retirement and would remain in the area for the rest of
their lives. In her own quiet and unassuming way, she was the best mother
anyone could ever ask for.
Jackie’s celebration of life service will be held at St. John’s Anglican
Church, Cobble Hill, BC on July 2 at 11:00 AM with reception to follow.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan, BC.
