April 29, 1924 - May 31, 2017
Phil passed away peacefully at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan BC at the age of 93 after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind his only remaining sibling Frances (Eugene Senger), his loving wife, Bunny of 66 years, daughter Nadene (Jerry Brown) and son Dave (Elaine), 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Phil was born in Allan, Saskatchewan and lived most of his life in Victoria working at BC Forest Products for 38 years as a saw filer before moving to Salt Spring Island and then Duncan. From an early age, music was a huge part of Phil's life. He was always jamming on his guitar with friends, played and sang at a lot of dances and for "the old folks" at care facilities. He had a great sense of humour, liked woodworking, volunteering at the Valley Senior's Centre and telling jokes. Phil enjoyed his many winters spent with Bunny in Yuma Arizona soaking up the sun as well as their many worldwide travels and cruises. A loving and caring man who will be missed by many and will remain in the hearts of his family. Many thanks to Dr. Rimmer for his support and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
A celebration of Phil's life will be held at 3:00-5:00pm on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the Valley Senior's Centre, 198 Government Street, Duncan.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan, BC.
