In the early morning of February 11, 2026 Ramona Schultz, of Duncan B.C., passed away peacefully just five days past her 96th birthday. Those who knew her would know that she faced her passing with the same determined courage she showed over her lifetime.
Ramona was born in Sedgewick, Alberta and moved to several other small Alberta communities until settling with her family in Edmonton. She married Allan Schultz on October 4, 1948 and they began a 77 year journey together. Daughter Dianne came along in January of 1950 and son Tim joined the family in March of 1953. And what a journey it was. Allan served in the Canadian Army for over 20 years and beginning in the mid 1950’s the couple travelled to postings in Alberta, Manitoba, Texas, Alabama, Ontario, Pennsylvania, Manitoba (again) finally settling in Edmonton in 1966. Their retirement years saw them splitting their time between Edmonton and Arizona as they escaped winter for sun and cacti. Golfing and relaxing with old friends was the order of the day.
Grandchildren began arriving in the mid to late 1970’s followed by six great grandchildren. The children loved spending time with their grandparents. The couple remained in Edmonton until 2016 when they relocated to Duncan, for the more mild weather and to be closer to family.
Ramona is survived by Allan, her loving husband of 77 years; her daughter Dianne of Duncan; son Tim (Terry) of Cobble Hill; Sister Gloria of St. Albert, Alberta, grandchildren (Ryan, Amy and Katherine); great grandchildren (Summer, Logan, Parker, Colton, Austin and Noelle). She also leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Ramona was predeceased by her father, Howard, her mother, Elsie; her sisters, Mildred and Leona; brother Rod; son in law Norm and grandson Matthew.
Cremation has taken place and information on memorials and remembrances will be forthcoming. The family asks that donations be made in her honour to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
