April 2, 1930-January 11, 2015
The family of Robert McAllister Holmes is sad to announce his death following a short battle with cancer. Bob was predeceased by his son Paul and is survived by his wife Rosemary, daughters Diane and Alison, grandsons Colin and Sean, sisters Dorothy (Mrs. George Morris) and Karen (Mrs. Leroy Floen), and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was born and grew up in Red Deer, Alberta. In his late teens and early twenties, he played semi-professional and professional hockey. Later he entered the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and graduated in 1958. Bob and Rosemary were married soon after, and Bob opened his practice in Winnipeg before having their family. He was a talented and dedicated Chiropractor and loved his work. He was an active member in Kinsmen Club, and golfed at Niakwa Golf and Country Club. In 1976, the family moved to Victoria, where he practiced until 1998. Bob played golf at Royal Colwood Golf and Country Club until they moved to Arbutus Ridge in 1987.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends, relatives and grateful patients, who recognized this warm and kindly man beneath the (sometimes) crusty exterior.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Victoria Hospice http://www.victoriahospice.org/ or the charity of your choice.
