
LOVEQUIST - on Friday, July 20th, 2012, with her daughters at her side, Shirley Lovequist passed peacefully away at the age of 76 at the Cowichan District Hospital. She was born February 4th, 1936 at Broadview, Saskatewan. She was the daughter of Angus and Nellie Miskiman. Predeceased by her husband Kenneth and survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Bruce) Thornton and Darlene Hoyt (Greg) and grandchildren, Danielle, Derek, Ryan and Brenton. She has four great grandchildren, Makenna, Olivia, Brodie and Layla.
Shirley married Ken in October of 1955. The lived in Brandon and then moved to Kenora. Ken always wanted to move to the coast, so in 1968 they bought the Duncan Motel and then later moved to a small hobby farm. While living on the farm Shirley worked at the Island Saving Credit Union. Her passions were her home and gardening, camping in her motor home and her love for her dogs.
The family would like to thank Shirley’s best friend Francis for all her help and support. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Doctors and staff at Duncan Hospital.
If you choose, in lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Mom’s name.
At Shirley’s request there will be no service. Arrangements made with First Memorial Funeral Services, Duncan.
