

Nick is survived by his wife, Helen Cariotis, daughter, Anne-Marie Cariotis, son Nicholas Cariotis (Rachel), daughter Kristina Vandenabeele (Thomas), daughter, Angela Cariotis, son, Stephen Cariotis (Charlotte), grandchildren, Kai Street, Grace Cariotis, Sophie Vandenabeele, Hannah Cariotis, niece, Joanna Tatakis, brother in law Mike Tatakis.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents Ann and Stylianos Cariotis, brother, Steve Cariotis, and sister, Maryann Tatakis.
After moving to Dallas in 1955, Nick attended Sunset High School and graduated in 1958. He went on to the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1963. Nick graduated TBS at Quantico in 1965 with the commission of 2nd Lt. in the United States Marine Corps. He then spent 26 months in Vietnam, serving as a Rifle Company Comvmander of Hotel Company, 2nd BN-4th Marines aka "The Magnificent Bastards". After returning stateside, he remained in the reserves and attained the rank of Major.
Nick graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1970 and practiced criminal defense law until 1994 when he became an Assistant District Attorney for Dallas county, as chief of the checks and bank fraud division.
In the 1960's, Nick and his family founded Sports Novelties, a pioneering sports merchandising and concessions company. Nick helped attain exclusive merchandising contracts with every school in the Southwest Conference, many college football bowl games, the Dallas Cowboys, two Super Bowls, and a Republican National Convention.
Nick loved his family, his Orthodox faith, his Greek heritage, the Texas Longhorns, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and a good game of poker!
The family would like to thank the staff at James L. West Alzheimer's Center in Fort Worth for providing such loving care for Nick this past year.
A visitation will occur Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a Trisagion service at David Clayton & Sons Funeral Home, 200 W CENTER ST, DUNCANVILLE, TX 75116.
A funeral service will occur Friday, December 8, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX 75240.
A graveside service for Nick will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211. A burial will occur, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211-6702.
