Willie James McIlwain

The viewing will be held at David Clayton & Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, November 29 from 12 pm – 4 pm. The family will be gathering from 2-4 pm and there will be a Military Honors ceremony at 2:30 pm.

There will be no funeral service.

Willie was born in Raleigh, North Carolina to Sammie and Carrie McIlwain on August 14, 1935. He went to high school at Barr Street High School and graduated in 1956. He enlisted in the US Army in 1959 He retired in 1978 as a Sergeant First Class and Vietnam Veteran after serving a distinguished military career that included assignments throughout the United States, Germany and Panama, Canal Zone.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on cars. He also attended Cedar Valley College for 3 years pursing his interest in Auto Mechanics.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Sammie and Carrie; and his wife, Cheri.

Willie is survived by daughter Paris Mack; son Maurice McIlwain; daughter Rita Young; and Vikki Baker.
