

Leon was born in Mississippi, but lived in New York where he was a Pressman at the New York Times Newspaper for 42 years.
He was a Veteran, having served and been wounded in the European Theater during World War II.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hicksville where he served as a Head Usher. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society, The Knights of Columbus and President of the New York Times VFW Post. He loved to travel, enjoyed music and was a voracious reader.
Leon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rita; and five children: daughter, Carol Ann of California; son, James (Eva) of PA.; daughter, Janey Peisker of New York; son, Patrick (Gail) of New York; daughter, Rita of Nevada. He is survived by eight grandchildren and two siblings, a brother, Paul Wise of Texas and a sister, Dean Cummins of Mississippi.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hicksville, New York.
