Alexander "Tootie" Bowden

Tootie was born on Thursday, March 12, 1936 at home in Cumberland County, NC to the late Mack Alexander Bowden and Addie Elizabeth Bowden.

He is preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Wayne Bowden and Donald Mack Bowden; one grandson Ryan Parker; three brothers, Buddy Bowden and James Duncan “Tennie” Bowden, Billy Mack Bowden; one sister Mary Elizabeth “Sissy” Hair.

Alexander Bowden “Tootie” was always known to be helping his friends with work they needed done whether it be fixing someone's car or digging a well for the neighbor. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it . He started working when he was 13 and continued to work daily until he was 70 yrs. old. He believed in hard work and providing for his family. His children and grandchildren were the apples of his eye he enjoyed taking them to get candy and ice cream at the local linden store Bowdens grocery or taking them for rides on his tractor. He was loved by so many and will truly be missed.

Tootie is survived by a son, Daniel “Boone” Bowden, of Linden, NC; a daughter, Margie Hair, of Linden, NC.

Brothers: Wayne S. Bowden (Rebecca), Linden, NC, Thurman, E. Bowden (Jean), Linden, NC., and

Donnie Bowden, Linden, NC.

Sister: Wanda Gail Landreth, of Erwin, NC.

Grandchildren: Denise Gainey , William Gainey Ricky Hair Jr , Desire Sessoms , Anthony Bowden ,

Joshua Bowden , Daniel Bowden , Chesley Bowden

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 19, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home 401 W. Cumberland Street, Dunn, NC 28334.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Hair’s Chapel Free Will Holiness Church 3075 Duck Pond Road, Linden, NC 28356. Burial will follow in Bowden Family Cemetery.
