She was born on July 19, 1946 in Sampson County to the late Lattie G. Lewis and Hazel A. Lewis.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by the following members of her family: her two husbands: Bobby G. Odom and Branson H. Hayes; a grandson: Garrett Cody Odom; two sisters: Martha L. Lewis and Judy R. Lewis; and a brother Michael D. Lewis.
Mrs. Hayes was a loving mother of five children, a home maker, the caretaker for her parents and husband, the biscuit maker for Hardees where she was voted best biscuit maker in Harnett County in 1994. She attended Spring Branch Baptist Church.
Left behind to cherish her memory are the following members of her family: Her five children: Son: Micky G. Odom and wife Trilma of Salemburg; Son: Billy R. Odom of Dunn; Son: Ronald L. Hayes and wife Deeann of Dunn; Son: Johnny R. Hayes and wife Melissa of Erwin; Daughter: Linda S. Brinson and husband Theodore of Dunn; Brothers: Max G. Lewis of Dunn, Jerry A. Lewis and wife Ginny of Dunn; a sister: Laurie A. Laurie and husband Bill of Godwin. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
You are cordially invited to a time of visitation at the Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the Spring Branch Baptist Church located at 2391 N Spring Branch Rd., Dunn at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Norwood Tadlock officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Mount Zion Cemetery with: BJ Odom Jr., Joshua Odom, Joseph Brinson, Justin Brinson, Matthew Hayes and Micky Odom serving as pallbearers.
