He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Sandra Goodwin Cottle; his parents Charlie M. Cottle and Clara Winsette Cottle; his brothers William, James, Harold, Charles, and Peanut Cottle; and his sisters Roberta Vann, Millie Brown, and Clara Mae.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Herman Cottle Jr. (wife Kathy), Sheila Long (husband Bryan), Pam Hawley (husband Terry), and Billy Cottle (wife Chris); his grandchildren Nicholas Cottle, Amber Cottle, Justin Cottle (wife Martha), Cameron Cottle, Ashley Hawley-Bell (husband Cody), Kayley Hawley, and Alex Cottle; his great-grandson Paul Bell; his brother Melvin Cottle; and his sisters Joan Rowland and Doris Williams.
Herman worked as a dedicated employee of the Kelly Springfield Goodyear tire factory for 19 years, and he also enjoyed working on classic cars.
There will be a graveside service for Herman on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 2 PM at Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery on Red Hill Church Road in Erwin, NC.
