Lucy Sweeney Harris, age 58 of Salemburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 2, 2019. She was born on August 29, 1960 in Gastonia to the late John Sweeney and the late Lucy Bell Hampton. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Gypsy Joe Bell and a brother, Greg Kimble.
Lucy leaves behind to mourn her passing, her husband of 28 years: Rufus Franklin “Frankie” Harris; daughter: Anna Marie Hall; grandchildren: Lauren Makenzie and Levi Hall; brothers and sisters: Nelson Grindstaff and wife Margie, Robin Youndblood and husband Billy, John Sweeney, Sylvia Speerli, Shirley Cassidy and husband Joe, Bill Sweeney and wife Cathy, Randy Sweeney and wife Pam and Bobby Sweeney; Sister-in-law: Sharon Honeycutt and husband James and their son Daniel, and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to commemorate the life of Lucy Sweeney Harris will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in the sanctuary of Falcon Church Of God Of Prophecy, 7141 Smithfield Road Godwin, NC 28344, with Rev. Jimmie Hall and Rev. Thomas Wrench officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Autry Daniels Cemetery with Ricky Harris, Ashley Harris, Taylor Harris, Jeremy Hall, Dwight Gregory, Eric Vann, Chris Harris and Matthew Faircloth serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Sharon and James Honeycutt, 814 S. Washington Avenue, Dunn, NC 28334.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to Falcon Church of God of Prophecy, 7224 Smithfield Road, Godwin, NC 28334 or to Falcon Children’s Home 7569 N West Street, Falcon, NC 28342.
