William David Crane Sr.

Mr. William David Crane, Sr., 82, of Erwin died Sunday, January 18 at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield. He was born September 27, 1932 in Harnett County, son of the late Silas and Viola West Crane. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Crane and a sister, Rosie Gainey. David was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of South Erwin Baptist Church where he served as Deacon Emeritus. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 21 at 2:00 P.M. at South Erwin Baptist Church with Rev. Turner Matthews, Rev. Jerome Pope and Rev. Charles Price officiating. Burial will follow in Erwin Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores Crane, one son, David Crane and wife Pam of Dunn, one brother, Larry Crane and wife Sue of Erwin, one sister, Carolyn Ferrell and husband Woody of Raleigh, three grandchildren, Bethany Crane of Dunn, Trey Crane, U.S. Navy, Norfolk, VA, and Derek Benson of Four Oaks, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 20 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at South Erwin Baptist Church.
