As I write this, you are celebrating Uncle Charlie's life.  I regret that I am not with you today but look forward to a gathering in PA.  I can't wait to give each of you a hug!  I wish I had seen Uncle Charlie more recently but the picture you chose captures my fondest memories of him. I know you will miss him but he is at peace and I pray your memories bring you comfort in the days ahead.  With great fondness and love, my thoughts are with you.

My condolences to Mrs. Wenner and family of this fine man.  Charlie was a client of mine at many of my estate sales. I always enjoyed hearing stories of his travels, his children and Grandchildren.  His love and knowledge for art and history were obvious and he was always a gentlemen.   We will all miss him at Edna Louise.

Dr. Wenner and I were co-authoring (as recently as the past several months, a cancer research review paper together on using controlled release cationic porphyrins in drug delivery to glioblastomas. Dr. Wenner and I had traveled to India (his favorite cancer congress) in 1994, Rio de Janiero in 1998, and also Thessalonika, Philippi, Neapolis, and Halkidiki, Greece in 1998. Dr. Wenner told me that his favorite cancer congress was INDIA! He was the type of man who was a great encourager to me, telling me "no matter what I did with my PhD degree in biochemistry, that it would be worth it." This certainly has been true! My condolences to the family.  I have known Dr. Wenner through Biblical Archaeology Society and Roswell Park and enjoyed talking to him on occasions over the years- truly a wonderful person.

Although, I have only known you for the past few years, it seems like I have always been close to you. Your friendship, guidance and intellect was extremely valuable for my career and personal growth.  I will miss you dearly, particularly at lunch times.  May your soul rest in peace.

I was so sorry not to have had a relationship with my cousin Charles over all these decades (as he was always so interesting to talk with) except to share our Christmas newsletters - just lives lived in different places.  I remember Marian being the soloist at Allen and Grace's wedding and a few conversations with Charles at Wenner reunions decades ago!!  Condolences to Marian and all the children and grandchildren - Karen Davis Thompson (the youngest Burger grandchild who is now 70.)

Charley was a teacher of mine. He was a man of great integrity and was always willing to listen to your ideas. I was sad to hear of his passing.
