Daemen misses you!

So sorry to hear of Dr. McMahon's passing. He stands out as my favorite teacher of all times. I loved him for just believing in me and raising the bar knowing I would conquer the bar. He is remembered as I homeschool my own kids and set their bar high knowing they too will conquer the bar. Thank you for all you've done, Dr. McMahon!!

I was blessed to have Dr McMahon as a professor at Daemen College in the 90s. What a special man and inspirational teacher! There is something so strong about the connection and gratitude I feel toward the wonderful people who taught me how to be a teacher, and Dr. McMahon was one them. He was kind, funny, and so intelligent. I remember the day I graduated Daemen, he was standing in a line to congratulate us, and he gave each of a huge hug and told us how proud he was and wished us luck. Mrs. McMahon, my prayers are with you and your family. God bless you all and may He grace you with the peace you need at this time.

Mrs. McMahon, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Such sad news. Dr. McMahon was truly a legend at Daemen College. He was probably one of the toughest, yet best professors at Daemen. I know I am a better teacher because of him. His passion for education lives on in his students!

Unless I'm mistaken, Dr. McMahon's signature course was called "BOLD" (Behavioral Objectives and Lessons Design). Lots of work, but he would often reassure his students by referring to past "BOLD survivors" (i.e., 'it could be done'). He was an excellent and dedicated teacher, and no doubt his imparted wisdom, mentoring of and influence on educators and their students (and their studients), will never really end.  Dr. McMahon made a significant, long-lasting, and far-reaching positive difference for so many.

I was blessed to have Dr. McMahon as my professor, advisor, and mentor.  He was was truly an inspiration to all his students. He loved sharing his passion for learning and life. Dr. McMahon was one of the most inspirational teachers I have come across.  His love for teaching and others exuberated through his smile and eyes.  He truly believed in each of his students and was honest in the most constructive way!  I am truly thankful and blessed that I got to know him and work under him.  He saved my teaching career and truly inspired me me to pursure my dreams.  Thank you Dr. McMahon (and Joann) for all your love and support.

Dr. McMahon was a dedicated professor to Daemen College.  He truly prepared me to be an effective teacher.

Whenever Ed came into Cracker Barrel, which sometimes was twice in a day, I always got a hug and kiss on the cheek. Going to miss you Ed.

Dr. McMahon was one of the greatest professors of all time.  His passion for teaching came through in every course he took and every "golden opportunity" exam he gave.  He was a great mentor.  My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mrs. McMahon.  God Bless.

I had the great pleasure of working with Ed for years on the PDK Executive Board, and of being a fellow graduate student under the guidance of Connie Toepfer.  Yet what I remember most was the almost constant smile, the twinkle in his eyes, and the unconditional friendship.  He was a thoughtful colleague and a valued friend.  Our sincere condolences to his family.

Dr. McMamahon was the greatest.

He helped me get my teaching certification.  I will never forget his classes, and his wit, humor and his commitment to excellence. 

He will be sorely missed!

Dr. McMahon was instrumental to my career when I transferred into Daemen and I will forever be grateful for his guidance, knowledge, and quick wit. Dr. McMahon was/is a mentor and inspiration to us all. Mine was the last cohort he taught at Daemen and he was my first professor I had on my journey to becoming a teacher. I was scared to death when I first walked into his classroom but after about 15 minutes he put my mind at ease. Thank you for encouraging, supporting me, and becoming my friend. You will be greatly missed.

I am saddened to hear of Ed's passing.  We had hoped to have lunch together with some former associates after he recovered from his illness.  Long-standing professional colleagues and friends, Ed was the first graduate student to complete his doctorate under my advisement.  
Back then, the first time Ed telephoned me at home, our young son took the call.  Asking, “whose calling?” the response was. “Ed McMahon!”  With wide eyes, thinking it was Johnny Carson's sidekick, he shouted, “DAD, its ED MCMAHON!”  In his usual good humor Ed laughed heartily when I told him.  Our children were also sorry of Ed's passing. 
For many years Ed and I were active together in Phi Delta Kappa Educational Society.  An exemplary educator, he personified Geoffrey Chaucer's appellation of a great educator, “gladly would he learn, and gladly teach.”  Ed's legacy is the large, legion of those fortunate to have studied and learned with him.  
My wife Jeannie and I extend our deepest condolences to Joan and his family.  I honor Ed's memory and, while I'm certain he will be there “in spirit,” I'll miss his actual presence at that next lunch meeting.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Dr. McMahon was a wonderful professor and a great man. He never gave up on me and told me to never give up my dream of graduating and getting my teaching degree, and I did it, even when I had my doubts! He is be truly missed!

Joann, So sorry to hear about Dr. McMahon. He helped so many of us get our teaching certificates. I often think of both of you but particularly you and all the fun we had working together that one summer and student teaching with you under Ed's guidance. Dr. McMahon was a great professor.  I was a student of his in the early 80's and still use some of his quotes today.  He was an inspiring person and a true educator.  Dr. McMahon passed that inspiration to many students, which is a priceless gift to all of us.
