Karen M. Dutt-Doner, a Professor of Teacher Education at Canisius College, died on March 5, 2017, at the age of 50. Karen was an accomplished professor, runner, dancer, fitness instructor, volunteer, baker and cook, with achievements too numerous to list. A devoted and inspirational teacher and mentor inside and outside the classroom, she was always trying harder, making herself better, and reaching farther. Karen brought a spirit of selflessness to everyone she loved and everything she did, which forever changed so many lives.
Karen was born and raised in Rochester, New York. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo, a Master’s degree from Fordham University, and a doctorate from Syracuse University. She later settled in Buffalo with her family where she was an active participant in the community. She is survived by her husband, Todd; her three daughters, Allison, Megan and Shannon; her parents Ronald and Helen Dutt; her father and mother-in-law Ronald and Dolores Doner; her brothers Robert (Gina) Dutt and Richard Dutt; her sister Kathleen Guith; her sister-in-law Tina (Rick) Galle; and nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Karen’s life will be held Thursday March 9th, 7pm at the Christ the King Chapel @ Canisius College.
