What a tremendous loss to so many. Ken was the epitome of a good friend, always there for us and never judgmental. His honesty and integrity were beyond reproach.  .. and he was a devoted husband and father/ grandpa..  You will always be in our hearts Ken.  Rick and Karen 

I only knew Mr. Kozara for a short time, but can say I was blessed to have met him.  He was a lovely man.  My condolences to the entire family.  Thoughts and prayers to you all. 

They say that grief is the price we pay for love. In this experience, of losing my papa, the person who has taught me the most about laughter, joy, life and love, I have felt the most grief of anytime in my life so far. Through this sadness though, I realized how much he really did for me and my cousins. From the golf cart trips, to ping pong games and walks on the beach, all five of us have strong, vivid memories of all the fun we had with him and even though he will be so so missed, we know he is still with us, in our memories and in our hearts. We love you Papa!

It's hard to summarize the measure of a man or a friend in a few paragraphs or a few words. I knew Ken since 1954 when I first met him.  Ken and I became boyhood friends and inseparable buddies throughout our grade school, high school and college years.  

We shared common interests in sports and loved competing against each other in table tennis, snooker and eight-ball. During our summer vacations as sophomores and juniors in high school, we would drive to nearby parks and beaches where we would lay around in the sand trying to get sun tans, flex our underdeveloped muscles and try to impress the local girls.

During college, after our scheduled classes were over for the day, we would head to local pool halls where we would shoot snooker for hours cussing at every missed shot and getting angry with ourselves for losing games to each other.  We enjoyed our pool and table tennis games immensely, but even more, we enjoyed our camaraderie and our friendship. I think, for Ken and I those times were the hi-light of our youthful years.

Eventually, our jobs and our careers took us to different parts of the country.  Although separated by miles our friendship didn’t diminish but strengthened.  Ken and I both loved golf and talked about getting together to play a couple of rounds - but distance and circumstances prevented us from doing so.  I'll miss Ken - our pool games and long distance conversations and emails, but more than the games I'll miss his friendship. We were two unlikely guys to strike up a life-long friendship: our ages were different as were our backgrounds and career pursuits. 

So, what is friendship? It's an accidental bond formed between two people that's based on common interests and individual respect, and which grows stronger with each passing year. I admired Ken for the man he was, his love for his wife Linda and for his sons David and Kevin; and, I treasured his friendship. Ken was a gentle man, a Gentleman and a Friend; and I will miss him greatly.  

Dave, Abby and the Kozara family, please accept our most sincere condolences and prayers.  Although you have lost a father, grandfather, friend, mentor here on earth, you have gained a guardian angel forever.  He will always be with you in your thoughts and in your heart. God bless.

Summers in Michigan were always a special time for me and my memories of Ken will forever be bound up in the fulsome warmth, love, and joy of the entire family.

Whether he was teaching us golf, sparring with us in croquet, or demoralizing us in pinochle, Ken was always a model of decency and good humor. His soft smile and good-natured laugh were reminders to take joy in life's little idiosyncrasies and not to take yourself too seriously.

Best wishes to Linda and the rest of this family in what is no doubt a very difficult time.

We were so sad to read of Ken's death. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Linda, David and Kevin and your entire family. We are still forever grateful for the wonderful home and neighborhood we found when you sold us your house. We have fond memories of all of you. God bless.
