Maj. Daniel Kiblin, aU. S. Air Force and Air National Guard veteran of 24 years, died Monday in his East Amherst home after a battle against brain cancer. He was 43.
A native of Buffalo, Maj. Kiblin enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from Hutchinson- Central Technical High School in 1987. He later completed his bachelor’s in business administration at the University at Buffalo.
Maj. Kiblin served as a logistics readiness officer in the U.S. Air Force and the 107th Airlift Wing of the New York Air National Guard. His service took him to Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Guam.
He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his last decade of service as an officer.
Competitive by nature and born with a photographic memory, Maj. Kiblin loved Sudoku, bowling with his league and planning for the day he would be a contestant on TV’s “Wheel of Fortune.”
His is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Lisa Machado; a son, Joshua Daniel; a daughter, Julia Eleanor; his parents, Richard Sr. and Rosemarie; two sisters, Carol Ann Ott and Jacqueline Serena; and four brothers, Richard Jr., Darrell, Keith and William.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday at UB’s Newman Center on Skinnersville Road, Amherst.
