Stan was the beloved husband of Lenette R. (nee Grobe) Rook for nearly 60 years; cherished father of Michael P. Rohan and David J. (Jennie) Rook; devoted grandfather of Madeleine, Brendan, Jacob and Thomas; dear twin brother of Joseph C. Rook; loving son of the late Stanley A. Rook and the late Josephine (nee Romanoski) Rook. Also survived by many friends and neighbors.
Stan graduated from Riverside High School in 1958 where he played baseball and also played softball later in life. Over his life Stan worked at Kobacker’s Department Store, The Riverside Men’s Shop and, in his retirement, the Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps. He married his sweetheart Lenette on September 4, 1965 and they made their home in the Riverside area of Buffalo. Stan served in the Army National Guard and was a prostate cancer survivor. He was a lifelong avid reader, especially of books on the Second World War and sports. Additionally, he would walk about 4 miles a day after he retired.
He will be deeply missed by all.
Stan’s Family will receive friends on Sunday September 7th from 11AM – 1PM at the DENGLER, ROBERTS, PERNA FUNERAL HOME, 8630 Transit Rd., East Amherst, NY. A Prayer Service and Celebration will follow at the same location at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan’s memory to the Boy and Girls Club of the Northtowns and the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library.
