

Alexander Richard Constantino, 83 of East Hartford, CT passed from this life on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary Lee (Levitow) Constantino, his parents, James and Mary (Saccone) Constantino, his twin brother James Constantino, sisters Caroline and Rosanne Menzel, brother-in-law Alan Menzel and nephew Frank Knowlton.
Alex was born in New Rochelle, NY and after moving to East Hartford at a young age he resided there for the rest of his life. Al was always a hard worker. After he left school, he worked in the South Glastonbury Tannery but quickly became everyone’s favorite Head Custodian at multiple schools throughout East Hartford. After retiring from the East Hartford BOE after 30 years, he did the things he loved; gardening in the yard with his wife, fishing, spending time with family, playing cards, going to the casino or singing with his beloved bird Maxi.
Alex was always the life of the party and loved to make people laugh. He had an innate sense for the stock market and enjoyed watching TV, especially the ebbs and flows of the market along with Judge Judy.
Alex leaves behind 2 step-daughters whom he helped raise since they were kids; Tara Bufis and her husband James of Brick, NJ and Megan Cleveland of Statesville, NC. In addition he leaves behind his sister Joan Pagano of East Hartford, CT and his brother Tom Constantino of East Windsor, CT., nieces Carol Shaver of Bristol, CT and Lisa Riveglia and her husband John of East Hartford, CT. He has 3 grandchildren; Dianna Lynn LaBonte of CT, Jacob Carlin and his wife Chelsie of NC and Jasmine Cleveland of NC, plus 8 great-grandchildren; Jaidyn, Maliyah, Tye, Marley, Dylann, Peyton, Mitchell and Jackson.
A visitation for Alexander will be held Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave, East Hartford, CT 06108. A brief viewing before service will occur Monday, August 25, 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10am at St. Mary Church, 15 Maplewood Ave., East Hartford. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Burnside Ave., East Hartford.
