

Alice E. (Moore) Tourtellotte, beloved wife of the late of Herbert A. Tourtellotte, passed away April 6, 2012 at Manchester Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was the daughter of the late Raymond E. Moore and Violet (Titley) Moore. She was born Feb. 14, 1929 in Worchester, MA, but grew up as a “clam digger” in East Haven, CT. She was a homemaker, was active in her church and belonged to several car clubs for antiques & later for British sports cars. Her devoted husband, ‘Herbie’ restored several MG’s for her, which she loved to drive. She was also a member of Clan MacDuff and enjoyed celebrating her Celtic ancestry. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her three children, Carrie Smith and her husband Boston of South Carolina, Laura Steingiser and her husband Russell of Glastonbury and Raymond Tourtellotte and his wife Lorraine of North Carolina; her five grandchildren, whom she adored; Andrew Pinney and his wife Catherine, Mathew Tourtellotte, Andrew Steingiser and his wife Michelle, Allison Steingiser and Sarah Steingiser; her sister Violet Scobie; her two nephews Bruce Scobie and Brian Scobie. There will be no calling hours. A service of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 13th, at 10am, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 110 Ellington Rd, East Hartford, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
