

Ana Eva Maisonet “Ana La Canita”, formerly known as Ana Gomez, 65, of East Hartford and Hartford, passed away with family by her side, on Thursday, September 05, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 7th, 1948 in Barceloneta PR to the late Crispin and Josefa Maisonet.
Ana was a kind and loving woman who always had an open heart. She took comfort in her Catholic faith and in helping others. Ana worked for various agencies in Hartford including Battered Womens Groups, DCF and AIDS Awareness before her retirement. Ana enjoyed knitting and crocheting, she especially cherished her time spent with family. She will be most remembered for her warm smile and devotion to her family.
Ana is survived by her three sons, Enrique Gomez and his wife Jeannie of East Hartford, Joel Gomez and his wife Ivette of Germany and Edwin Gomez and his significant other Tabatha Perez of Royal Palm Beach, FL; her brothers Erasmo Maisonet of Newburgh NY; her three sisters Nelly Cicero and her husband Frank of Newburgh NY, Millagro Rosario and her husband Tony of Newburgh NY and Titi Navarro of Daytona, FL; her five grandchildren Tatiana, Samantha, Joel, Max and Alex; her two great grandchildren Elick and Joseph and many nieces and nephews and extended family members and close friends.
Ana’s family would like to express their deep gratitude to the staff of Manchester Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
Friends and family are welcome to gather on Monday, September 9th, from 9am to 11am, at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford CT 06108 for a period of visitation followed by a Funeral Service at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford.
