

Catherine T. (Saponare) Sparks 94, longtime resident of East Hartford, passed away on Thursday August 26, 2010 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born July 28, 1916 in Hartford, daughter of the late Rocco and Angelina (Zigrino) Saponare. Catherine was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and she worked for many years for the Hartford Club. She was an excellent cook and baker.
She is survived by her four children: Raymond Dalton and his wife Sharon of Portland, Robert Snuck and his wife Julie of Mount Juliet, TN, Leland Sparks and his significant other Sheryl Major of East Hartford, and Monica Cooke of Rangley, ME; nine grandchildren Rachel Dalton and her husband Mark Pizzi, Matthew Dalton and his wife Bree, Luke Dalton and his wife Alissa DeJonge, Kristen and Kimberly Snuck, Leland and Justin Sparks, Thomas Cooke and his wife Karin, and Monica Gordon and her husband Mark, and five great grandchildren. Many thanks to a loving niece and nephew, Angie Falconer and John Paoletti, who were of special comfort and support. Along with both parents she was predeceased by her husband Leland Sparks Sr. and many brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be Monday (Aug. 30) at 9 AM from the Benjamin J. Callahan Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue, East Hartford, followed by a 10 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 15 Maplewood Avenue, East Hartford, CT 06108. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours will be Sunday (Aug. 29) from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
