Daphne K. Dill, at the age of 86, heard and answered the beckoning call to a new home and address. Her current address is “Heaven Street, in Gloryland”. She was the first child of seven, born in St. Thomas, Jamaica, West Indies, to the late William and Wilhel Smikle. By many, she was affectionately called Mother Dill. In 1974, Mother Dill migrated to the Island of Bermuda. While living in Bermuda, she was a member of Revival Temple Church, where she served under Bishop Isaiah Johnson for over 19 years as President of the Pastors Aide Committee. She was a prayer warrior, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary and a graduate of Gloryland Bible College.
In 1994 she decided to join her family here in the United States, and upon relocating to the United States, she became a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, formerly Full Gospel Pentecostal Church, Inc., under the leadership of Bishop, Dr. T. Walter Plummer. She served as a church mother, a prayer warrior and a member of the Prayer Band. And quite naturally, Mother Dill utilized her culinary skills in preparing food for the church’s annual convention.
At the time of her transition, she was a member of Light of Zion Christian Center Church, under the leadership of her grandson, Pastor G. Sean Campbell, and served as a church mother.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories and to carry on her legacy: Four daughters, Veida Campbell, Pearline Johnson, Janet Raiford And Jacqueline Reid. Two sons, Stanford O’Gilvie and Nigel Reid. Two sisters, Phyllis Campbell and Irene Williams. One Brother, Charles Smikle. 18 grand children. 12 Great grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and spiritual sons and daughters.
Mom, Mother, Momma, Sister, Auntie and Grandma – Your legacy of love, and example of how to carry the word of God into practice will forever inspire and serve as a model for many generations to follow. You ran the race, you kept the faith, and you gave us your all. We love you.
