

Mrs. Dorothy (Ellis) Pittman, of South Glastonbury, beloved wife of the late Charles W. Pittman, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Hartford hospital. She was born in Waltham, MA on April 28th, 1923, daughter of the late George and Florence (Hillier) Ellis.
Dorothy was a kind and loving woman, devoted to her family and friends. She married the love of her life, Charles, in October of 1956. She was a long time member of the South Glastonbury Garden Club, for a time, she served as its president. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church for many years. She loved to cook and enjoyed talking with friends.
She is survived by her brother George H. Ellis and his wife Doris of Scarborough, ME; her sister Marjorie F. Hartman of Waltham, MA; her nieces, Cheryl E. White and her husband Donald of Naples, FL, Susan H. Ellis of Raymond, NH; her great grand nephew Kent A. White and his wife Heidi and family of York ME; her great niece Courtney E. Campbell and her husband Matthew and family of Pelham, NY; her nephew David and Eloise Brown of Merritt, NC. She leaves many close friends, among them Raul Pive and family. She is predecease by her husband Charles and her brother in-law David Hartman.
A memorial service will be held, Friday, July 8th, at 10:30am, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 915 Main St. So. Glastonbury. Burial will follow in the St. Luke’s Memorial garden. Friends are asked to meet at the church. A reception will be held in the undercroft following the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
