Eileen P. Parys, 87, loving wife for 42 years of the late Henry Parys, passed away on March 9 with family at her side. Eileen was born in Astoria, Long Island, New York, the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (DeGraff) Wade. She was raised on Staten Island, New York.
During the war, she worked as a welder in the Brooklyn Navy Yard along with her mother. In 1944 she enlisted in, and was proud to serve, as an ambulance driver in the Woman’s Army Corps (WACs). Eileen was an avid reader, good cook, and loved doing puzzles. It seems she always had a puzzle in the works at various stages of completion. Her tremendous love of animals led her to volunteer at Protectors of Animals. She had a cottage on Ballston Lake, in New York, and spent many enjoyable summers there with her family and friends.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Peggy Henderson and Rita Kucharski and her brother Robert Wade.
She is survived by her son Henry S. Parys Jr. and his wife Sharon of Loudonville, NY, her daughters, Susan DuPont and her husband Larry of Newington, CT, and Patricia Romero and her husband Doug of East Hampton, CT; her sister, Joan Clevenger and her husband Walt of Beverly Hills, Florida, sister-in-law, Ceceylia Parys of Manchester, CT; brother-in-law, James Henderson of Scotia, NY; grandson, Marine Lt.
