Elizabeth A. Foley

Elizabeth Ann Foley, 87 died unexpectedly on Monday, October 3rd 2011. “Betty” was born on January 27, 1924 in Hartford, CT to the late Edward and Helene Foley. Prior to moving to assisted living in Glastonbury in 2007, “Betty” lived her entire life in East Hartford. She attended Burnside Elementary School and went on to graduate from Mt. St. Joseph Academy. She received her degree from St. Joseph College.

Betty worked at Travelers Insurance Company for over 40 years, retiring as an officer in the Group Pensions Department. She was an active member of various Travelers organizations, as well as the Business & Professional Women’s Club.

She was predeceased by her brother Atty. Edward J. Foley Jr., also of East Hartford and leaves one sister, Elinor Kirk, formerly of Stamford, now a resident of Mystic, CT and her sister-in-law Polly Foley of Glastonbury, CT. Betty will be missed by many nieces and nephews: Edward Foley of Middletown, CT; Chris Foley of Glastonbury, CT; Elizabeth McAndrew of Stonington, CT; Robert Kirk of Stamford, CT; Thomas Kirk of Redding, CT; Nancy Kavanaugh of Shelton, CT; Ellen O’Connell of Alpharetta, GA and Mary Reynolds of Penfield, NY. She will also be missed by many grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday October 8th at 12:30PM at St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street in East Hartford. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Hartford. Calling hours will be held at Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Avenue in East Hartford, on Friday October 7th, from 5-8PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty’s name may be made to St. Rose Church, 33 Church Street, East Hartford, CT 06018.
